Far Post has always been a club that has integrated the “Coerver Method” into its training curriculum. This training model is oftentimes misunderstood because most associate the method with just ‘static skill work’ which means players simply repeating ball mastery skills over and over again with no relationship to the game. This is not the case! The Coerver Method has evolved over time and now includes small-sided games that enhance the players learning of when and why to use these skills in match-like situations. Doing repetitive ball mastery work is important to a player’s development, but relating these skills to the game is essential – Young players must learn how these skills relate to the game. Without this context, it simply makes no sense to the young soccer mind. – Coach Todd
