What does that word “Totaalvoetbal” or Total Football mean – that’s on the backs of all those Far Post shirts? Far Post’s original player development vision was mostly influenced by the ideas from this era of Dutch soccer. Attached is a very brief summary of the concept but it may shed some light on why Far Post tries to encourage playing various positions. It is not entirely because we are ultimately searching to play Totaalvoetbal all the time. We do believe players must be well-rounded and should understand something about every position on the field. Having experience playing multiple positions only makes you more versatile and helps you understand the game better. And YES the game does call for players to be adaptable and to cover and support each other always and everywhere. – Coach Todd
